Welcome, Sam Black!

The U18 Waterloo Wolves are excited to welcome Sam Black to the squad.

The winger who played Waterloo U16 last season was selected by the Barrie Colts in the fourth round, 73rd overall, in the 15-round Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection draft.

Wolves Win the 43rd annual Big Nickel

This past weekend the Wolves won the prestigious 22 team Big Nickel tournament in Sudbury, Ont with a 5-3 win over Ontario #1 ranked Ajax Pickering Raiders. The Wolves stayed perfect with a 4-0 round robin with wins over the Toronto Nationals, Southern Tier Admirals, New Liskeard Cubs, and Kingston Jr. Gaels. The Wolves dominated the Nats again in the quarter finals taking that 4-1 with a large advantage in shots. The semis saw the Wolves continue their strong play defeating the Central Ontario Wolves 6-0 to advance to the finals that afternoon. In a very fast and tight final, the Wolves built a 4-1 lead and held on the beat the Raiders 5-3 and win the championship. The Wolves’ Colin Slattery took home tournament MVP honours.

Showcase Weekend

Your Wolves hosted the annual September U18AAA Showcase hosting the Sudbury Jr. Wolves, Niagara North Stars and the Markham Majors. The Wolves, just coming together, beat Sudbury and Markham winning both games 6-1 on Saturday. Sunday Markham went home to a 4-1 defeat after a slow Waterloo start. The Wolves look to build on this success continuing their exhibition season with a home and home with the Hamilton Steel.
